Day 2! Yesterday went pretty good in my opinion. If one person linked that was good enough for me! I ran into a little snag this morning because linkytools is down, so mama had to call for backup… *winks at inlinkz*.. anyway-
The goal is simple- make you think about Breast Cancer. I don’t want your money, I’m not taking donations, I just want you to think about it and take action. 1 in 8 women will have breast cancer at some point in her life. That could be me, you, my mother, your mother…
If you are my age, then you watched a lot of Real World during your younger days…so Mary- Ellis Bunim, the co producer of that show should sound familiar to you… she died of breast cancer… and Nina Simone, who was a beautiful singer, songwriter, pianist, and civil rights activist… and Cecilia De La Hoya, mother of Oscar De La Hoya, she died when he was only 17 years old.. and the list goes on of familiar names and faces. Not to mention the millions of names you don’t know.
Like the mother of my half sister, or my cousin that died about 6 years ago. And then there’s my sister, she’s a breast cancer survivor, and my personal hero.
That’s her mom on the shirt she’s wearing….
A woman’s risk of breast cancer approximately doubles if she has a first-degree relative (mother, sister, daughter) who has been diagnosed with breast cancer. About 15% of women who get breast cancer have a family member diagnosed with it.
….when talking about women under 45, breast cancer is more common in African-American women than white women. Overall, African-American women are more likely to die of breast cancer…
The facts are in front of you. What are you going to do with them? Breast Cancer Awareness needs all the attention it can get.
