neutral palettes

I think it’s quite clear that the neutral trend is not going anywhere anytime soon and that’s quite alright. The neutral or nude eye look is very popular and versatile making it a hit amongst noobs and makeup professionals alike. But… this trend could be foreseen as a problem if you can’t afford the HG of neutral palettes, Urban Decay Naked 1,2, or 3. Maybelline recently released a palette full of nude shades, but there was one problem, the shades were not pigmented enough. A professional would have no problem working with the palette (though I doubt they would), and someone new to makeup would be absolutely frustrated.

Lucky for you, I have a slew of palettes laying around the house, all under $10, all containing nude (or neutral, or earthtone, whatever you want to call it) shades. Check it out.

1. Wet’n’Wild The Naked Truth, $3.99

Wet n Wild the naked truth

This five pan beauty has everyday shades that you can wear during the day, or smoke it up for a night-time look. This palette was released in January and it is part of the permanent collection, but it’s a hot palette so stock up!

2. Maybelline Expert Wear Chai Latte, $6.25

Maybelline Chai Latte

This quad features nude shades of the coffee persuasion. Readily available and affordable, you can create a signature nude look. Best part? Maybelline produces four other quads with warmer or cooler toned browns. Collect them all, or grab one favorite. Totally your choice.

3. Revlon PhotoReady Metropolitan Palette, $9.99

Revlon photoready metropolitan

This five pan palette is for the girl that wants her neutral look to have a touch of smoky and a hint of sparkle to it. Revlon PhotoReady comes with a primer, three shadows for a tried and true smoky nude look, and a sparkle top coat that you could easily use as a liner. Bonus? There’s a step by step guide right on the back to show you how to get the look.

4. Wet’n’Wild Comfort Zone, $4.99

wet n wild comfort zone

Comfort Zone is the mother of all palettes with an earthtone twist. This is probably one of the older 8 pans from Wet’n’Wild, but the pigmentation is a 10 and the look combinations are endless. Don’t be a fool and pass this palette by!
