Holiday 2014: Handmade From The Heart Gift Guide

Untitled design

The holidays are all about giving, so why not give something handmade to someone you love? My handmade from the heart gift guide features my favorite Indie skin care and jewelry brands. They work tirelessly day and night creating the perfect products for your loved ones. You can feel and see the dedication in their products.

Ixora Botanical Beauty

I met Mercedes, owner of Ixora, many years ago when she was in the baby stages of her brand. Over the years, I have had the privilege of watching her brand grow and product line expand. Ixora Botanical Beauty features handmade bath and body products that are not only affordable, but beneficial to the skin.

My personal pick: Lavender Nights Calming Butter ($15). This is a body butter your entire family can benefit from using. Take a relaxing hot bath and slather down in this rich combination of aloe and lavender butter for  relaxed spirit and mind, and soft skin.

Mercedes Pick: She has a hard time choosing between the Jumbo Combo Butter ($18), and Kissed By The Sun Sugar Scrub ($14)! These two products are her most popular amongst customers.

You can shop everything Ixora has to offer by clicking here. Make sure to check out her gift sets for the holiday season as well.

Belle Butters

Tasha is another lovely lady I met thanks to Social Media. It’s been all love since I coined the term ‘Bellebers’, the cult like fans behind her brand. Her goal was to create high quality, affordable products for the hair and body, and that’s exactly what she did.

pumpkin pie butter

My pick: Pumpkin Pie Butter ($13) because pumpkin spice, duh. Also, the Lady Belle Rollerballs ($12) make a perfect stocking stuffer.

double agent

Tasha’s Pick: Double Agent Butter ($15-$65). It is made with shea, avocado and acai butters with camelina, jojoba and cranberry seed oils. It is perfect for very dry skin/eczema and dry hair & scalp. It is available in sizes 4, 16 and 32oz.

Organic Bath Co.

Gianne, owner of Organic Bath Co, is saving the world and skincare at the same time. I met Gianne through Twitter (seems to be that’s how I meet all my friends these days), and while we are total opposites, there is one love that we share- skincare. Organic Bath Co features green cosmetic products to make you look great, feel great and do great things. Every purchase you make to her business, she gives a percentage back to charitable organizations.

Enhance-Face-Oil_249634ba-6d03-4e4c-9119-9554805ce2b6_large

My picks: I’m lovesick over Enhance Face Oil ($85). It’s a blend of oils that moisturize, protect, and improve your skin. This is a great gift to someone that loves their skin, and the earth! I’m also a big fan of Drenched Body Butter ($10 and up), Stress Less Organic Lavender Sugar Scrub ($10 and up) and I’m in the process of testing out the Nourish Night Face Oil ($115).

Drenched-1.7-ounce

Gianne’s pick:  “Drenched is quite the multi-purpose product. It’s popular with women during their pregnancy, 100% organic it keeps the skin supple and diminshes stretch marks.  I have used Drenched on my face if I don’t have one of the face balms we are testing handy, and I have even used it in my hair!”

You can check out all the gift sets here, plus I reviewed the Chocolate Lovers Gift Set.

Labella Body Care

Adrienne is the powerhouse behind Labella Body Care, another Indie company that whips up bath and skincare products with the finest butters. Adrienne’s brand is well known for her miraculous skincare line (just read the testimonials), but it’s another product that got me hooked on the brand. I even gushed about it when Adrienne and I had Black Girl Time on The Good And Terrible Show!

Whipped_Soap_11f9d0f6-c691-4138-b91e-7a2ae9b37aa3_large

My pick: Whipped Soap Soufflé. It’s rich, it’s creamy, it’s loaded with olive oil, jojoba oil and jojoba beads for the softest skin ever. It’s on sale right now, so do grab a jar or two for someone you love!

Shea_Souffle_2_large

Adrienne’s pick: Shea Souffle gift set with matching scent Whipped Soap + What You Shea body butter ($20) You can check out all the gift sets here.

Absynia

Absynia was founded on one principle Good customer service. Elle, owner of Absynia was allergic to certain metals, so she started making jewelry pieces that fit her style. They were so great, she decided to make them for us too! This powerhouse creates the jewelry, photographs her pieces and designs her webpage! Her pieces have an Afro bohemian style to them. In addition, most pieces are one of a kind, made from materials that are vintage and hard to replicate. So when you purchase a piece from Absynia, you are purchasing art. I actually have one of the pieces she showcased on her back catalog page.

The owner of Belle Butters has a gift when it comes to skin care, her mango moisturizer butter for face saved my skin’s life. Matter of fact, it’s almost time for me to reorder. They last so long, a little truely goes a long way.
