I’ve come to terms with the fact that I have severely dry skin. Though things get better during the summer months, my skin is still dry.

I’ve gotten my face down to a science- I exfoliate and moisturize and the results have been nothing short of amazing, but there’s some skin that is not getting enough love from me. My scalp.

There is not a wide assortment of products on the market targeted to the scalp. There’s Head & Shoulders which is my HG during the winter, but I’m a product junkie and I’m always looking for something more. It also does not hurt to have a luxury product or two in your stash.

While dry scalp is nothing more than a cosmetic issue, it is annoying and I love to wear black…a lot. I find it tacky to have flakes all over your clothes and downright gross. So keeping my scalp hydrated and flake free is a must.

Madam CJ Walker Beauty Culture Wonderful Scalp Exfoliator claims to effectively remove buildup and flakes to soothe dry scalp. It also claims to cleanse, revitalize and rebalance the scalp for optimal scalp heath, which is beneficial because a healthy scalp is vital for growing healthy hair.

The texture is thick like a conditioner with a floral scent. Think Philosophy Field of Flowers. Clean, floral, bright, soothing but not overpowering. The formula contains salicylic acid to chemically exfoliate and coconut oil to hydrate. I know some people have reactions to coconut oil, so I wanted to make sure to get that out there.

(I’m saying, look at my hair. Clean, fresh, no flakes!)

I used this once a week, every Sunday as that is my beauty ritual day. After three weeks my scalp is clear, no flakes, and my hair smells delicious. I wish the brand had an oil with the same scent as the exfoliator. I’d never look back. I’d spend the money for a hair oil that smells like this.

Madam CJ Walker Beauty Culture Wonderful Scalp Exfoliator retails $32. Snag this exclusively at Sephora
