Are you struggling to pump up your levels of motivation? What happens when you lack motivation? The answer is simple. Nothing. Nothing happens. Nothing gets done. Nothing is accomplished. Obviously, the ramifications of this can be dire. That’s true whether you’re trying to get motivated to work out and lose weight or get motivated and find a job. Every aspect of our life can be impacted by a lack of motivation.
So, what kills our motivation? Well, there’s the big ‘What’s the point.’ What’s the point of trying when I’m going to fail, what’s the point of writing that article – it’s meaningless anyway. What’s the point of working out, it’s not going to change how I look or feel. This is a false narrative of course because taking action will change something. It may not have the ultimate desired effects, but something will change. Something will move forward and progress.
Of course, one of the biggest issues with motivation is actually environment. You might not be aware of this, but your environment can have a massive impact on how you feel about yourself and what you can achieve. It will kill your motivation, and we need to change that.
Hey, How About The Unnatural Light?
It’s not good for you. That’s the simple message to take away here. Studies have shown time and time again that non-natural light, whether its LEDs or Halogen bulbs have a negative impact on your bodies and mind.
One of key issues is that it screws with our natural time to sleep and stay awake. This alters our sleeping patterns which give you the feeling that it’s not really time to get up in the morning and can lead to those late lie-ins. To change this, consider buying some electric blinds. These can be set to rise and fall at certain times, pushing your natural sleeping pattern into a constant routine.
Just Do It!
Or, you know, something more original. The fact is that positive messages will have an impact on your level of motivation. You can integrate these into your style and decor with canvas pictures or even coffee mugs. Don’t underestimate the impact a coffee mug that says ‘you can do it’ will have on your morning. It gives you that little ‘yes, I can’ you need in your life.
Of course, you can even go further than this filling up your phone and your iPod with motivational speeches, music and other media to push you forward.
Bold, Bright, Beautiful
Last but not least, if you are redecorating, consider opting for some bright colours and shades. Again, research shows that bright colours actually lead to positive thinking. Indeed, brighter colours even impact are pleasure sensors in the brain, stimulating them. So, buy furniture that is bright, vibrant and beautiful in your home, and you’ll never lack the motivation you need.
You can even extend this idea to your wardrobe, choose clothes with beautiful sunny colours, perfect for uplifting your down and out spirit.
We hope this advice helps you regain that lost motivation.
