Review! One ‘n Only Argan Oil Hair Color

FALL! That’s the inspiration behind my newest hair color. I wanted something spicy, red, brown undertones, and fun!

Dying my hair at home has never been a challenge. I’ve been coloring my own hair since I was in the 7th grade, and I’ve never lost a strand. Worst issue I have is peroxide developer breaking out my skin. Challenge accepted. I know exactly what to do.

I was bored one night and decided to browse Sally Beauty Supply’s website, I wasn’t really looking for anything in particular. Actually I was. I only needed the Proclaim Natural 7 Argan oil. It’s by far my favorite oil cause I can use it for my hair, skin and nails. Read here if you have not listened to me praise this oil before. So I got a cute hot pink comb, some oil, Proclaim’s Argan Oil hair gel (the container is HUGE for less than five bucks), and well hmmm… do I need anything else?

I told myself no, went searching for coupons and found one- Buy One ‘n Only’s hair dye, and you get the developer for free! WHATTTTTTTTTTT THEY MAKE HAIR COLOR NOW! No one told you (Why didn’t yall tell me?). So I picked that up and waited for everything to arrive in the mail. Let me also say how disappointed I was to see no reviews of this dye… BOOOO

One ‘n Only Argan Oil Hair Color-What they say

One ‘n Only Argan Oil Permanent Hair Color Cream is a hair color breakthrough! One ‘n Only infuses active levels of precious argan oil into every drop of hand-crafted Italian color.

Advanced micro pigments combine with precious Argan Oil for luminous color, certified 100% gray coverage, brilliant shine, and unmatched conditioning. Argan oil penetrates deep into the hair shaft to nourish, repair and lock in moisture, instantly smoothing the cuticle and improving elasticity. The low ammonia formula provides deep color penetration and longer-lasting consistent results.

The results are amazing! Fade resistant, vibrant true color. Explosive shine, luxurious conditioning and a silky rich, soft texture that is truly beyond expectation!

The color I chose- Medium Red Brown (4R). The swatches inside the store were, well… blah. I was apprehensive about using the color, so I waited like a week.

Next decision- What developer was I going to use? I knew I was going to use One and Only, but I had to think long and hard about whether I wanted a 10 vol or 20 vol. I ended up getting the 10. My before hair color was already light, so no need to lift.

I get everything mixed up. I used the entire tube of color and the entire bottle of developer, because I like to cover every strand, and past experience, especially with box colors and Bigen, I don’t have enough for my hair. Followed the directions to a tee, washed it out really well, and deep conditioned afterwards with nuNAAT Karite Special deep conditioner and well… check out the photos:

one and only before

GOREGEOUS! It was literally everything that I was looking for.

Did it cover grey? YES! I have a few strands of grey and they were gone when I was done.

Did it dry out my hair? No.Have you ever used a product, like a relaxer or a hair dye and knew while your hair was soaking wet that it was dehydrated and rough? That was not the case. Deep conditioning it afterwards made it that much better!

Did the developer break me out? A little yes. Feel free to judge me, but I can honestly use no color that comes with a peroxide developer. So a little irritation is worth it for the colors I get to put in my hair. It’s always minimal, and it always clears up in about a week. No biggie!

Did I experience any hair loss? No.

Was the ammonia really low odor? Yes.

How many washes did it last you? Confession- I wash my hair a lot. Almost too much. I got about 8 washes out of this before it faded, and it was only a little bit. It’s still very bold in the sun and in bright light. I will find a semi to refresh my color in a few weeks (and yes, I will review that too!)

In conclusion, this is a must have!

One ‘n Only Hair Color– $5.99

One ‘n Only Developer– $2.99

Bottle to mix color- 4.00

nuNAAT Karite Special Deep Conditioner– $9.00

Gloves- $0.99

Perfect freaking hair color- priceless.

  • Wow, the results are beautiful! I use this brand's argan oil/silicone serum product (I can't remember it's precise name..) and love it – I've always been a huge morrocanoil fan, but this for me, works just as well for a fraction of the price. So it's cool to see some other products from them!

I used this product and same color too, starting about 3 months ago. I too do my own color and this one lasts so much longer than the box colors you buy at the drugstore. Love it, love it. love it!

I just used this product last week and I LOVE IT!!! I have never dyed my own hair and I have to say I achieved the look I wanted. No dryness at all. I chose 6RG Dark Tangerine Blond with #20 developer. Truly in love with my hair…not to dark not to light and perfect for the fall.

Thank you for this review. I went to Sally’s for some nail polish and was going to head over to Target to get my JOhn Freida 4RV but seen the exact same one for a LOT cheaper PLUS it is “professional”. I was skeptical and haven’t tried it yet but your results have pushed me to TONIGHT is the NIGHT 🙂
