During our lives, there are a range of things which can cause premature aging. Many of these can be controlled, simply by making some small adjustments to our lifestyle which can end up making a big difference in the long run. Some people find that writing them down in a journal can really make a difference. Also, set aside some time when you can decompress and sort through the events of the day in your mind.
Top of the bad habits list, smoking is an extremely common cause of premature aging, and even spending too much time in a smoky environment can be damaging. Too much alcohol also leaves us less hydrated and can lead to skin looking very tired and discolored. A balanced diet that is rich in nutrients is one of the best ways to stay looking healthier for longer. Try to plan out your meals on a weekly basis, making allowances for any times during the week that you will be eating out. Cut back on any unnecessary junk food in your diet.
We’ve already talked about it a little bit, but dehydration can lead to your skin looking worn out. Make sure to drink plenty of water – about two litres a day is advised. Also, keep up a skin moisturizing regime on a daily basis to keep it looking fresh and vibrant. Another way of enhancing your skin is to take a look at cosmetic treatments to see if anything might be for you. Avoid internal environments that may dry out your skin. Wherever possible, try to use extractor fans and dehumidifiers to prevent air from becoming too dry.
Lack of Exercise
Try to get into a good exercise routine, as this is a good way of keeping your mind focused and reducing stress. Studies have also found that exercise can improve circulation and provide a much-needed boost to the immune system. If you get into a sedentary lifestyle, this is more likely to age you quicker.
Too much exposure to the sun can age our skin extremely quickly. Make sure to always use sun protection, and remember that UV rays can also penetrate through clouds and windows. Don’t forget to reapply sunscreen on a regular basis. A moisturizer with an SPF factor is a good way to have some sort of protection all the time.
