Give a blogger a social media platform and we will show you how to create a giveaway with it. Today I will show you how to create a giveaway using Instagram.
With Instagram you can share your photos, choose a filter, publish, and share with followers and other social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, and Tumblr. You are sharing nothing but photos… how can you turn that into a giveaway? Getting your audience to share photos. DUH!
Follow these steps:

Edit your photo
There are many Android and iPhone apps that you can use to edit, but I like to use PicMonkey (web-based photo editing site) to edit my photo and email it to myself so I can catch it and download it on my phone.
Create some rules
Make the rules as simple as possible. It’s a given that you want new contestants to follow you; you want users to share your photo. They can do this by screen-capping the photo, or using the regram app to share. Next you want to create a special tag for your giveaway. This helps you keep track of the entries. Make your tag short but sweet, no more than 15 characters if possible. Specify how many times they can enter. The standard is once a day. Create a start and end date. Will your giveaway be US only or International? I like typing my rules out on notepad, and then copying and emailing them to myself so I can catch it on my phone, copy and paste.
Time to pick a winner
This is not as hard as some think it is, there are many ways to track your tags. Use Statigram . Search the tag you created for the giveaway. The pictures are in order with the very first entry being at the end, and the last entry being at the very top. Statigram will specify how many photos there are so let’s say there are 500 photos, that means you have 500 entries. Now go to Random.org and enter your min (1, duh) and max (how many entries you had in total), and hit the generate button. Let’s say random.org picked #55. Go to the very bottom on statigram and count from the bottom up, until you get to #55. That’s your winner!
You can use your original giveaway photo or if you are feeling productive you can create another one. If the contest was large (over 100 entries), I find it easier and less dramatic to first contact the winner and get their information. Then I go back and use the photo and announce on my page. That cuts down on contest scamming (yall know what I mean).
And that’s it! You have created your first Instagram giveaway! This is a great way to expand your reach on Instagram and hopefully pick up a few new followers to interact with!
