Everyone wants to rock a red lip, and surprisingly, finding the right red for your skin tone is not the biggest challenge, it’s your teeth. Coffee, wine, tea, even your beloved blueberries have the potential to stain teeth, leaving you with less than stellar, not so pearly whites. I have a few essential tips to share, plus introduce you to Crest 3D White 2 Step!
According to Matthew J. Messina, DDS, if you are concerned about a certain food or drink staining your white tablecloth, you can be sure it has the potential to stain teeth (source). So here are a few simple tips to help you keep your teeth white.
Use a straw
This is a very old and very simple trick. Drinking with a straw keeps staining beverages away from the front teeth. Use one when you can. And yes, I even use a straw to drink red wine when I am in the comfort of my own home (aka there is no one around the judge me).
I had no idea detergent foods existed until I read this article! Detergent foods are firm, crisp foods that actually remove stains. Once you are done with that cup of coffee, snack on some carrots, celery, apples or popcorn!
If you are on the go and don’t have any detergent foods handy, run to the bathroom and give your mouth a quick swish with water. Also, many brands offer travel sized bottles of mouthwash, some with whitening powers.
Get a polished smile every day with new Crest 3D While Brilliance 2 Step, containing whitening technologies so advanced, they can’t be combined into a single tube.
Step 1 deep cleans, brush as usual but don’t rinse.
Follow up with Step 2, a peroxide-based whitening finisher. As an additional tip, make sure you are replacing your toothbrush or toothbrush head in a timely manner. A worn toothbrush will have a less than effective impact on cleaning teeth.
