It’s been a few years since I’ve played with a fiber mascara. Once upon a time, I was a fan of Too Faced, and Better Than False Lashes was *the* fiber mascara, but I hated it. The nylon fibers were irritating to my eyes and not that easy to build. My lashes looked a tad longer, sure, but they had no definition and poor volume.
It’s safe to say that I had all but given up on fiber mascaras. Fast-forward two years later and in comes Divaderme. Divaderma Lash Extender II features plant-based cellulose fibers to instantly lengthen and volumize lashes by up to 1000% and other natural ingredients, like Boswellia Serrata, tocopherol, and Panax extract to strengthen, condition and firm lashes. Best part? This fiber mascara is safe for contact lens wearers. I gave this mascara a test drive, along with Fiber Wings II, so let’s see how it performs, shall we?
The directions are straight forward and familiar if you’ve ever used a fiber mascara before- you start off by applying one coat of your favorite mascara, and then add the fibers while the mascara is still wet, then seal with another coat of mascara. You can repeat these steps again if you want extra long lashes. Check out the results:
Rants and Raves
The Fiber Wings mascara is thick in texture but surprisingly applies well with no clumps. If you follow the additional tips listed below, you will have no problems applying the Lash Extender II fibers without fall out on your skin. Speaking of fall out, if you do experience it, just sweep them away with a fan brush. Maybe it’s because I have fairly long lashes, but I did not see phenomenal length.
After two coats, it became increasingly difficult to build more length. I did attempt a third round of fiber and mascara, but my lashes started sticking together, so I think 2 rounds was a good stopping point for me. I experienced flaking after 6 hours.
- Apply leaning over your mirror, vanity or sink to avoid fibers falling on your cheeks
- When using fiber mascara, always do your eyes first, so the fiber residue is easy to clean
- Tap your fiber brush to remove excess fibers before application
- Always apply a coat of mascara before and after a coat of fibers, never applying to dry lashes
Divaderme is hypoallergenic, paraben free, gluten free and cruelty-free.
