New from Essie is Essie Gel Couture Nail Polish, a two-step system for luxurious wear for up to 14 days.
The two-step process includes the lacquer itself and a gel-like top coat. No base coat, no lamp, no curing, no problem!
I received the opportunity to give these new polishes a test run, and report back to you on my thoughts.
I am no longer a fan of changing my polish weekly, so the longer the wear the better. Most lacquers only last 6 days at best, and that’s with the best top coats that money has to offer. So to try something new that lasts for 14 days and I don’t have to cure? I’m down. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a semi fan of curing because of the quick dry time, but with all the reports of UV damage to the hands, it was enough for me to leave UV gel polishes alone.
Essie Gel Couture polishes feature a twisty designed bottle with a pro-wide brush. I love pro-wide brushes, widely used by OPI because they apply polish effortlessly and even.
This polish system does not come with a base coat, because the base coat is built in the polish. One less step means less drama right?

Essie Fairy Taylor
Overall the polishes dry FAST. Really fast. Pair it with the top coat and you can be done with a mani (or pedi) in 15 minutes flat.
Totally not a nail artist, I attempted a dotticure, and it went well for me. All the colors applied flawlessly, dry time was great and the finished product was great. I used Essie Fairy Taylor as the base color and made dots using Essie Rock The Runway.
