A Guide to Deciding Which Shoes to Wear

Shoes can literally make or break an outfit. However, sometimes it can be hard to decide which shoes look best. Multiple shoes could be a contender to complete your outfits, but don’t be tempted to pick a pair for the sake of it. You shouldn’t leave the house with anything less than the perfect pair of shoes adorning your feet. Here are some great tips for finding the perfect pair of shoes:

Open Toe or Closed Toe?

I think that open toe or closed toe should greatly depend on what the weather is like outside. Open toe shoes are quite summery, whereas closed toe shoes are perfect for colder weather. This doesn’t mean you can’t switch it up; I just use that as a guideline. However, you should definitely never wear open toe shoes if you’re planning on wearing tights. That’s a huge no-no.

Flat or High?

I like to wear flat shoes for day wear and high shoes for night’s out. I’m not one to wear high shoes in the day time, ever. They can be so uncomfortable, and I’m only happy to be that uncomfortable when I have to look extra nice. Again, this is up to you, but high shoes are better for nights out in my opinion.

Trainers or Dollies?

Let’s say you’ve decided to wear flat shoes; do you go for trainers, or dolly shoes? Trainers, although considered ugly by some, are actually getting more and more fashionable lately. You can wear trainers with anything; a dress, a skirt, jeans, shorts, you name it. They’re the perfect addition to make your outfit that little bit more ‘urban’. Dolly shoes add a very feminine edge to an outfit, and are probably one of the girliest shoes you can choose to wear. They are very versatile though.

Kitten Heel or Stiletto?

I don’t see the point in kitten heels. If you’re going to wear them; wear them high and proud! Kitten heels are good for ladies that struggle with balance though, or perhaps for ladies who are already quite tall and slim. Don’t forget, you can find gorgeous stilettos just by looking online. Shop for women’s shoes online to get a wider range of choice.

Plain or Patterned?

Plain shoes when your outfit is loud. Patterned shoes when you want them to do the talking. You can literally bring a boring outfit to life by adding a pair of funky, patterned shoes. Even if your shoes are a bright colour, or metallic, they can work wonders for your outfit.

Girly or Grungy?

I like to do it like this: wear a girly outfit with grungy shoes, and vice versa. This adds a little edge to the outfit and helps to confuse people, which I like. Mix up different styles to express yourself. You can still go all out and dress head to toe one style if you like – that’s just what I think looks best.

Pointy or Rounded?

Pointy shoes are great for small feet, but make large feet look even larger. If you’ve got big feet, stick with rounded. If you have small feet, you can get away with anything.

Hopefully now you have a good idea of what kind of shoe you should wear with what outfit. Have fun styling them!

I think I’m the only person who loves a kitten heel. Granted, I’m 6’1, but still. I think they’re cute! Lol
