Julie G Frosted Gumdrops Holiday 2013

Even though OPI was first on board with the matte glitter trend with their Liquid Sand line, I wasn’t completely sold until I got Julie G’s first Gumdrop collection.

Julie G is a YouTube beauty vlogger who teamed up with Jesse’s Girl to create a Rite Aid-exclusive makeup line.  The Gumdrop polishes resemble their namesake with sparkly colorful glitter.

It’s pretty fortunate I moved to South Carolina since the closest Rite Aid to me was a 1.5 hour drive to Spanish Fort, AL.  (Yes, I have crossed state lines to get my hands on drugstore polish.)  Now there are two within 5 miles 😀

I was also quite lucky the night I picked these up since they were buy one, get one half-off!  I was impressed by the holiday collection’s rich palette; perfect for the season.

Mistletoe

mistletoe

mistletoetc

Dark green glitter in a dark green base.  This is opaque in two coats and is easy to apply.

Sugar Plum Fairy

sugarplumfairy

sugarplumfairytc

Dark purple glitter in a dark purple base.  The formula and application is the same as Mistletoe.

They are both also gorgeous with top coat, but be warned:  they’re top coat eaters!  You can use a thicker gel base coat such as Gelous (found at Sally Beauty Supply) to help reduce the amount of top coat needed for a glossy finish.

Are you crazy for matte glitter?  Or just plain crazy like me to cross state lines for polish?

These have been the only textured polishes I’ve been interested in trying. Love that blue!

Just when I thought I was over the whole textured thing, you have to show me these pretties 🙂 Love the look of Mistletoe – so festive!
