New from Maybelline is the Gilded In Gold Makeup Kit. Aside from foundation and mascara, this kit has everything you need to create a gold eye look with a killer red lip.
Keep reading for swatches of the kit.
Maybelline Gilded In Gold Make Up Kit contains:
- 4 eye shadows
- 1 Highlighter/Illuminator
- 1 Blush
- 1 Eyeliner
- 1 lip color
The eyeshadow quad is composed of 4 shades with a cool toned color scheme, but it won’t be a problem for people with warmer skin tones.
The first shade (upper left) is a frosty cool toned beige with a satin finish. The second shade (upper right) is a cool-toned white gold with a satin finish. The third shade is a cool-toned yellow gold with a satin finish. The fourth shade is a warm chocolate brown with a satin finish.
The quality of the shadows overall are soft, velvety and well pigmented. I always recommended using an eye shadow primer to make a good thing great!
The highlighter is a champagne toned white with silver sparkles and a satin finish. The satin finish is not as prominent as the sparkles when blended out, so be mindful if you have large pores. Speaking of the sparkles, they are very small in size.
The blush is the sole disappointment of the palette in my opinion. The blush is a cool toned dusty rose with a matte finish that barely showed up on my skin when applied and blended, which means anyone my skin tone or darker may run into a problem. It is a beautiful shade with so much potential, but pigmentation is poor.
The eyeliner included in this palette is a short and chubby stick. The liner is a carbon black, well pigmented and applies with ease.
The lip color included in the palette is a lip gloss in a small tube with a doe foot wand. While it appears to be a deeper pigmented red in the tube, it is actually a sheer, strawberry toned red with not so prominent sparkles. This is a great gloss for someone just starting out wearing red lip colors. Pigmentation is pretty good and you can get about 3 hours of wear before you will find the need to reapply.
Overall for the price this was a good palette. I was most impressed with the eye shadow quad and the eyeliner, while the blush and the lip gloss left me disappointed.
