‘MURICA!: A Double Feature with Doll Face and Pure Ice

Hey everyone!

Are you getting pumped up and ready for the 4th of July? I have a joke for you:

Q: Do other countries beside the US have a 4th of July?

A: Of course they do! The calendar doesn’t skip from the 3rd to the 5th!

Corny jokes aside, I have some great polishes and perhaps some nail art ideas to prepare you for the big celebration!

Doll Face is a new brand to me…I received Kissy Red, a gorgeous, rich, red glass-fleck polish that is perfect for a 4th of July barbecue. Kissy Red only took two even, buttery coats to reach opacity.

Isn’t the bottle adorable? I had to take a picture to capture the detailing on the back.

Hopefully I’ll get to show you more in the future, especially if the other colors are just as great as Kissy Red.

For those of you more adventurous, I’ve tried a bit of nail art using a few Pure Ice polishes from their Sparks Fly collection.

Pretty ‘N’ Patriotic is a matte white polish. I’m incredibly impressed at the application and formula of this white…it’s even and opaque in two coats!

Lady Liberty, like Pretty ‘N’ Patriotic, is even and opaque in two coats, but is a slightly orange-leaning red.

Using Pretty ‘N Patriotic as a canvas, here are the details for this manicure:

  1. Index: 2 coats Pure Ice Hit the Roof (a red glitter in a red jelly base)
  2. Middle: Lady Liberty and Sinful Shine Most Sinful dots
  3. Ring: 1 coat of Pure Ice Sparks Fly (holographic silver star and hexagonal glitter with blue glitter in a clear base)
  4. Pinky: 2 coats of Sinful Shine Most Sinful

While at Wal-Mart, I found Salon Perfect’s Starred and Striped top coat, the only Salon Perfect 4th of July-themed top coat I could track down. Starred and Striped contains blue star glitter with red and white bar glitter in a clear base. I dabbed one coat of this over Lady Liberty.

I hope this post inspires you to have your nails outshine the fireworks! Please stay safe this holiday and I’ll see you guys after the smoke clears!
