Keep reading to learn more about PMD Beauty Microderm.

What is Microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is a minimally invasive procedure which gently polishes your skin, which in turn improves collagen production. Collagen is a protein in your skin that keeps it smooth and taut. That boost in collagen production reduces fine lines and wrinkles, reduces the look of large pores, and will give the skin an overall refreshed appearance. In addition, microdermabrasion can improve age spots and blackheads, improve hyperpigmentation, lessen the appearance of stretch marks and treat acne scars.

The average cost of a microdermabrasion treatment ranges from $100-$175.

PMD Beauty Microderm: getting started

PMD Beauty Microderm is a microdermabrasion skincare tool, which means you have to learn how to use this device. Take 2-3 days to practice using PMD with the white disc. The white disc is made for ultra sensitive skin, but it also is excellent to use for practice. Also practice on your arm FIRST. Even though the white disc is not intense, it is still exfoliating.

Move the PMD quickly across the skin. DO NOT:

  • Go slow
  • Pause
  • Hover
  • Pass over the same area more than once.

*My personal suggestion* Practice using the white disc on your arm the first day. Once you have a full understanding, do your first microdermabrasion treatment with the white disc. The next week, use grey. The next two weeks, use blue. If blue is not exfoliating enough (It should be), use green. I do not recommend going beyond green for the face. Red and black (not included in the set) should be reserved for the body.

First thoughts

I’ve seen these tools 1,000,000 times, even been offered a few from other brands and always passed because I didn’t have the knowledge necessary to use one, and I definitely did not have the knowledge to recommend use to someone else. New year, new me.

The PMD How-To Guide card that is included with the set is the most useful tool for a noob with no skincare knowledge. Everything you need to know is right there on that card. I followed the instructions from start to finish as if I had no prior knowledge. I cannot stress enough how important it is to practice on your arm with the white disc.  I also performed my first treatment with the white disc, but we will talk more about that in the 2nd part of this review. Overall, set-up was very simple and getting comfortable with the discs was A+.
