Question Of The Day: How Young Is Too Young?

To start using skincare products to prevent aging? What are best preemptive skin measures for each milestone in your life?

My thoughts:

I honestly think it’s never too early! Thanks to genetics, some of us are predisposed to wrinkles, age spots, freckles, puffy skin, bags under the eyes and a whole slew of other skincare issues.

The best and most important preemptive skincare measure is sunscreen. If you think your skincare issues are going to be bad, they will only get worse with sun damage. Not to mention you will increase your chances of skin cancer. Find a sunscreen with the SPF that’s right for you and keep it slathered on! Do not forget about your lips, so find a lipbalm with some SPF in it like Sunbum’s line of lipglosses. Incorporate sun protection everyday of your life. It’s never too early, and never too late.

When you enter into your 30’s, you should think about exfoliating more and incorporating skincare products that contain antioxidants to reduce damage from the sun and turnover skincells. Also take care of those bags ASAP! Clinique’s All About Eyes is a must have for taking care of bags, dark circles, wrinkles and puffiness.

When you enter into your 40’s, think about keeping your skin healthy by starting to incorporate products that reduce wrinkles, and fade agespots.

50 and beyond? Sidenote: Isn’t it amazing when we are young we would do anything to be older and mature, but when we get older we are fighting to turn back the clock? From 50 and beyond, you want to find products to lift the skin, moisturize, tighten. products that contain collagen will be your best friend. Skinn Cosmetics by Dimitri James sells some wonderful products that I hear good things about for women 50 and over.

Tell me, what do you think? What age are you and what products are you using to make sure father time does not catch up with you?

You’ve just reminded me how incredibly awesome “all about eyes” is. I need to get some more and leave it right in the fridge for de-puffing in the morning!
