Sometimes through all the hype, we forget that some of the best shades are right in the drugstore. I went to Rite Aid yesterday because I was looking for something else (we will talk about that in another post), and bumped into this lipstick. I figured, why not pick it up and review it? It’s a product that anyone can find-you can pick it up in just about any drugstore and online, it’s on trend with fall, and it is very close in tone to a popular lipstick that was LE and sold out.

Revlon Va Va Violet is from the Super Lustrous Lipstick collection. Va Va Violet is a deep purple with burgundy undertones. It has the texture of a cream with a lustrous finish. This lipstick is packed in the classic black tube with gold trim. Va Va Violet lasts about 6 hours on the lips. It’s not a matte texture so I was not expecting it to be long lasting.

Maybelline Midnight Plum is similar to Va Va Violet, almost an exact dupe. Milani Chocolate Berries is also similar, but it has a brown undertone. MAC x Rihanna Talk That Talk is similar with a red undertone. Wet n Wild Cherry Picking is deeper in plum with a red undertone.

I was able to find Maybelline Midnight Plum to compare, and as you can see this is the closest to Va Va Violet. Though I doubt you will have a hard time finding either one. But you can always buy both!

Revlon Va Va Violet retails for $7.99. Pick it up at Rite Aid, Walgreens, Target, CVS and

I was going through my lipstick collection today and I swatched these two because I was gonna blog about their similarities. Happy to see you did that already. I don’t wear the Maybelline lipstick enough.
