Shopper’s Tip: How To Find Hot New Products In Drugstores

So you are reading one of the many lovely beauty blogs on the net. They tell you about a new product by your favorite brand, and it’s available at.. let’s say CVS. You get really excited and rush out to the nearest CVS near you… it’s not there.

Next location: not there. After visiting the third CVS, you give up. I have a great tip to save you some miles, gas, patience and time. Keyword: volume. It’s a very simple concept that most of us probably don’t think about. Including me. After to talking to so many of my readers, they all had one common complaint: reading press releases about new products, going to a drug store near them, and not finding the products.

A few weeks ago, I decided to have a chat with a manager of a large drugstore chain, to get some insight on why there was so much miscommunication between brands and drugstores.

Basically, larger locations that bring in more money are just about guaranteed to have newer products.

For example, I live in Jackson, Ms. Walgreens is my drugstore of choice to snag beauty products that I read about, but the location by my home, is a small volume store. There’s a location about 5 miles away from me in Byram, Ms and it is a higher volume store. If Maybelline releases a new LE collection, I stand a better chance finding it at the store that makes more money. I would suggest checking your local store first, and if it’s not there, simply moving on to a higher volume store.

So this was hopefully a very helpful tip from me to you! I would love to know what you think!

This is great info! I don’t know how many times I’ve sampled something either from a free sample, or from a freebie I got from a marketing company to try and share my opinions on (BzzAgent, Smiley360, etc) only to not be able to find it anywhere in local stores. Which get’s really frustrating and by the time its popular enough to make it to my stores I’ve forgotten about it! I’ll keep this in mind next time I’m looking for things!
