Can we talk about chicken skin, aka keratosis pilaris for just a second? It’s an annoying skin condition, one that I suffer from that we don’t talk about enough on the internet.
Keratosis Pilaris, or chicken skin if you’re nasty, is a skin condition characterized by rough, bumps. Depending on your skin tone, they can be red if you are light to medium, or they can be flesh toned if you are darker. It is essentially a buildup of keratin thanks to older age and genetics. Chicken skin most commonly occurs on the back, outer sides of the arm, face and thighs. It has a similar look to when you have chill bumps. It is unsightly and a pain in the butt for aesthetic reasons. Chicken skin is worse in the winter when the temperature drops and the air is dry.
While keratosis pilaris is a harmless condition, you may still want a few good solutions so here’s one- Clearista Retexturizing Gel.
Clearista is an exfoliator specifically designed to combat the excess keratin we accumulate on our face. As we get older, that keratin buildup causes seborrheic keratosis and keratosis pilaris (I suffer from this), two common keratotic blemishes. Clearista targets that excess keratin and hydrates the skin’s surface.
Clearista is a clear substance with a gel like texture with tiny jojoba esters suspended in the gel. This is a gentle, but powerful exfoliant that will not only remove dead dry skin at this time of year, but remove excess keratin while efficiently hydrating the skin.
I suffer from chicken skin on the outer sides of my arms and my upper lip. I don’t care too much about the chicken skin on my arms but I need my upper lip area to always look its best because I’m a beauty blogger and I love doing lip swatches and FOTD’s. I started using Clearista back in May 2015, and have been using it twice a week since. Those pesky bumps on my upper lip when from being prominent, to barely existing.
